I've never really had mentors. Oh I've had offers, men and women, who wanted to take my under their wing and guide me — but I always shied away. Carefully keeping them at arm's length, somehow knowing in the back of my mind that I would end up disappointing them. I would get tired of the path they were taking me down, or ultimately choose to go my own way. This is both a protection mechanism and just my natural desire to find my own path through. To hone my own process. I've always traveled light, so to speak.
Up-leveling, let's talk about it.
Many of you heard my story on the Expanded Podcast by To be Magnetic and reached out to talk about it. Am I manifesting? What is an up level? How do I find an accountability partner? How do I know if I am in a test or trigger? I see you, I hear you.
Here's what surprised me most about this new phase for me. It's not about the shiny manifestations, the sexy instagram boss-babe naked under my blazer persona. It's not at all about what I have received. It's what I was able to let go of. It's accepting the truth about myself (see above) and being okay sharing that here with you. In my body it feels like being forever cracked open. Nothing about it is comfortable, but I'm okay with that. Like I said, I travel light.
Keep reaching out, keep sharing your stories with me. xoxo Lisa

Mood boards
Weekly visual inspiration and mood boards.
I'm on a mission to get you to make more mood boards! Last week I showed you how to make a mood board with printed photos from magazines and use them in a self portrait shoot. This week I'm keeping my laptop closed, staying off of Pinterest (for now) and creating a living, tactile mood board with items from the house sprinkling in some of my own, printed self-portraits.

Q's
Q. Hi Lisa! I hope you'll choose my question for the Q + A this week. I'd like to know if I have to wait for the next challenge to join the Self Portrait Studio? If so, when is the next challenge? Thanks, Deb.
A. Hey there, Deb! I'm so glad you asked this question because we have recently made shifts in the membership to accommodate more members who wish to join us but don't want to wait for the next challenge window. We now offer a self paced option for SPS and are set up to accommodate and support members joining anytime! If there happens to be a challenge in progress then they just jump right in with us. If not, there are plenty of resources in the Studio to guide you along your path to self-portrait mastery, I promise.
Here's the scoop on Challenges. We will be hosting fewer 8-week challenges during the year. In between challenges we will be focused on more in-depth technical and creative challenges for our SPS Alumni group, which you are invited to join after completing the self paced version or an 8-week challenge. Feel free to read more about that here. I'll see you in the studio Deb! xoxo Lisa
