You may have noticed I like to include a bit of a story about my clients before jumping into interviews and gallery reveals. I do this because every woman faces nervousness and self-pressure before a photo session. They worry that they won't be able to deliver or feel confident during our shoot. I want everyone reading this to understand this is also an experience. Even if she were never to see a single photo she has already experienced a self-esteem boost by being seen, encouraged, and loved on during our session.

As it happens, Robin was referred to me by another client, Gaby, who booked a session with me for this very reason. She wanted to experience being the focus, taking these photos just for her.

If I had seen Robin in action, paint brushes in hand wildly mixing color and texture, I would have 1000% introduced myself and begged her to let me photograph her. As it happens, the universe did its magical things to bring her in front of my lens and Robin decided to book a session to celebrate her new look, silver hair — don't care.

In a blur of gorgeous hair, laughter, and some trepidation, Robin took her place in front of my lens and bloomed with Gaby in her eyeline, encouraging her every step of the way. Jokes were shared, and Gumby may or may not have made an appearance at one point. My sides hurt from laughing as my fingers clicked madly to capture each moment. I loved every second of it.

I pride myself on bringing out a woman's inner confidence without completely changing their authentic appearance. These photos are lightly edited to capture the true colors of Robin's art and celebrate the natural light and shadow in her tremendous space. We spent almost three hours together (remotely) changing outfits, locations, and switching out her artwork to capture the experience of being with Robin in her studio where the public is welcome, and laughter and play are most definitely encouraged.
